Umm … you had to start with a hard one, didn’t you? I’m just this guy, you know? I’m the oldest of the founding members of Monkeyman Productions, and yet I’m the one always trying to keep up in the series of movie references and inside jokes that is our collective consciousness. I’m a huge book nerd but I’m slowly warming up to ebooks, I have lots of tattoos and I’m an absolute sap about cute animals despite my gruff exterior.
Wait, my exterior isn’t that gruff.
2. Do you have a blog or website?
My personal website is djsylvis.com, but it’s way out of date. I used to do a lot of blogging on various sites, but life is way too busy these days.
3. Is this your first Monkeyman show? If not, what monkey-credits do you have under your belt?
Well, all of them in one way or another. I’ve written for every Monkeyman show so far, in part or in whole, I’ve produced or co-produced the four shows we’ve done prior to this one, directed the King Kong play, and acted in Dead Man’s Party in both its previous incarnation and the version we’re doing now.
4. Tell us a little about the character you are playing.
Trevor’s changed a little bit, actually, since the last time we did this play. He’s still a little bit arrogant and self-righteous, he’s still the DM and rules lawyer of the group, but now we can see a little bit more of how much these friendships, and particularly the bond with Jamie, really mean to him.
5. Monkeyman Productions tends to produce shows that are a little on the “nerdy” side. What do you get nerdy about?
It’s easier to tell you what I don’t get nerdy about! Things that most people would consider nerdy but I don’t care about at all include: all of the Star Wars prequels, Dollhouse, Dr. Horrible, Harry Potter, The Dark Knight, and the Star Trek reboot. Battlestar Galactica, I’m on the fence about. Dr. Who, I’d like to catch up on but the dvds are too damn expensive.
