MSFHTII Cast Member Interview: Brad Rowe

1. Tell us a little about yourself.

My name is Brad Rowe, I’m the youngest of the original four MonkeyMen and most of the furniture in my apartment was bought from Ikea.

2. Do you have a blog or website?

I do not. But if you Google my name you’ll find a Hollywood actor, a Doctor and a CEO for Puma Running Shoes. Eventually I think I turn up.

3. Is this your first Monkeyman show? If not, what monkey-credits do you have under your belt?

I’ve portrayed Dale in Godzilla on Sundays twice, once for each version. This will be my second attempt at Joe in Dead Man’s Party… and my first foray into the Phoenix-verse will be as an ungrateful, holier-than-thou bit player in an established franchise. Type casting really.

4. Tell us a little about the characters you are playing.

Well, Brad (in Phoenix II)is a lot like me, in that we have the same name and we look remarkably alike. As for Joe (Dead Man’s Party), we still look alike, but my name is not Joe. Likewise, I’ve never played D&D, nor am I scared of zombies. The zombie is my enemy, I respect my enemy but I cannot fear him/her or my fight is already lost. Through my extensive training on Red Dead Redemption and Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 I know I’m a headshot master. So we don’t share that particular trait. Joe is a fun loving, amiable dunderhead. He wants everybody to get along and doesn’t have a lot of forethought. He probably considers himself to be the most mainstream of his compatriots, though in reality he doesn’t understand that the average person doesn’t speak in movie quotations.

5. What would you do in the event of a zombie apocalypse? Would you be a survivor or an early victim?

First question: I’d like to think that if I was able to, I would help to avoid any so-called apocalypse. My skills are not only made to pay the bills, they are also invaluable in a zombie survival scenario.
Second question: I’m reticent to answer with complete truthiness. There are co-ordinates that only I have to a completely stocked base. Rifles, c-rations, night-vision cameras and a generator that makes Optimus-Prime look like a cheap 80’s toy. I hate to be vague, but it’s north of Toronto to be sure. Very north.
I’m skilled in the shaolin spear, the art of ninjitsu, close combat urban training and reproducing. Only the last one is an embellishment as I am without child, which I’m thankful for… Considering your proposal of zombie apocalypse.
I hate to sound like a zombie-survivalist-dick, but no, you can’t come with me… you wouldn’t recognize the signs in time to believe me

6. Monkeyman Productions tends to produce shows that are a little on the “nerdy” side. What do you get nerdy about?

Honestly? Comic books and movies. I play some video games to be sure, but I’m not really a gamer per se. I get a lot of flack for this, but the only real film trilogy is Back To The Future. LOTR doesn’t count because of the Hobbit. So, yeah. Comics and movies. All time favorites are Y, The Last Man and Ghostbusters. Respectively.
