MTO Announcement – Bonus Episodes, Q&A
D.J. Sylvis:
Hey folks – Deej here, creator and co-producer of the show, and permanent resident in Feelings Jail. At least that’s where folks seem to have put me after the Series Finale and Epilogue! I hope you’ve had a chance to listen to both, and that you’re satisfied with where our characters and their story ended up. Though we’re not quite finished yet – and that’s part of what I’m here to talk about! So, if I can have just a few minutes of your time, now that you don’t really have to keep watching the Moon …
First off, the we’re not quite done part! In case you’ve forgotten since wayyyyy back when we were crowdfunding for Season 4, we have four bonus mini-episodes, scenes really, that we’re bringing to you at the very end of things! None of these are going to change the story in big ways, but they’re going to do a deeper dive into a few characters before we close the book on things. We’re going to run these four bonuses starting from October 29th, one a week until they’re done. So October 29th, it’s going to be “Ashwini,” an episode about our favourite indefatigable Science Bro; then following that on November 5th with “Jaxon” – and those two are actually paired together, both characters are in both of those bonuses; then November 12th we come back with “Ahnung,” which was chosen by one of our top-level backers and you’ll hear more about her backstory with Elio along for the ride. And we finish on November 19th with one I really wasn’t expecting – our other top backer chose “David,” aka the Enclave Officer, aka my character – so we’re going to get a little further into his psychology in a post-series conversation with Harold McVett! So keep watching the feed for those, I think you’ll find good stuff in every one.
The other big Moonbase thing to mention is that we’re also planning a post-show Q&A episode, where all three producers – that’s Tina, Cass and myself – will sit down, say farewell to our little Moon story, and answer any questions you might have about plotlines, the characters, how we kept it all together behind the scenes … we’re willing to answer pretty much anything at this point! But we need your Q’s before we can give any A’s! So we’re taking your questions, from now until we start those bonus episodes on the 29th, and then we’ll start putting together our response. You can submit questions through all our social media – we’re most active on BlueSky and Tumblr, but you can also message us on Facebook and Instagram – all those links will be in the show notes – or you can email us at moonbasethetaout@gmail.com. It can be anything, big or small, inside or outside the story – just get your thoughts to us by October 29th! Then I’d expect you’ll see that Q&A Episode some time in early December, depending on how long it takes the three of us to get in a chat session together.
And one final thing before I let you go – I hope you’ll hold on to this feed after everything is done! Don’t unsubscribe after that Q&A – not because I’m expecting more big MTO content here, but we are working on some new stuff – including developing our next big series, Waiting For October! It’s going to be a bit different from MTO, more sorta paranormal because it’s about a whole world made up of monsters, as well as an angle where it’s going to be talking about the needs behind our storytelling itself … but it’s gonna be another queer diverse and full-of-feels story, so I think a lot of you will be interested in that. We’re in development right now, scripts are being written, we’ve got Tina Case (aka Wilder) and Robin Regalado (Ahnung, who you’ll be hearing in that bonus episode I mentioned earlier) as our leads, and some other familiar voices joining us already with more to come … and you’ll hear about it here first when things start to go public! So keep us in your podcast app, and you’ll be in the know for where we’re headed next. And I mean, if I ever feel the need to revisit the Moon one day … you’ll know about that, too.
And that’s all I’ve got for you! Keep an eye out for those bonuses starting October 29th, and send us your questions for the Q&A before that date! And of course, take care of yourselves, be good to the world in the ways you can, and keep up the struggle. We’re always with you.
